A three-generation photo session on a family farm!
Cori contacted me from Liechtenstein to book her family session for when they travelled to Canada to visit her dad and step-mom on their farm. I felt like I already knew her and her family by the time we met in person on July 16th. We had set up a 45 minute Skype session before they left so I could get to know what her needs were and to talk about her family. What made it even better was the warm welcome from Len, her Dad, and Dorothy when I visited early to scout their location for the best place to photograph the family when they arrived. Cori wanted a golden hour session, and I'm so glad she did! The beautiful natural light allowed us to capture some great images.
The image above was taken at the end of our two-hour session. It was time for some spontaneity and this is what we got! They were still full of energy and so was I!
Kids on a hay wagon, in hay fields, climbing up on and sitting on round bales! What a fun-filled time we had in such beautiful light. These are moments that will hang on their living room walls for years to come. What a special feeling for these children to know they are so precious and loved. My heart smiled inside when I showed Sarah the image of her on the round bale from the back of my camera. I'll never forget her whispering "I'm so beautiful!" almost in disbelief. And little Collin with his dancing eyes and eagerness to please and still be mischievous. Isabel, sweet sixteen, and such a quiet beauty with an interest in photography as well. Cori's husband, Andreas, was quiet too, but always smiling.
I loved being able to capture the time they had together as a family and especially seeing Cori with her dad while he sat on the old tractor. It brought back memories of my childhood when we used to play on the farm equipment at my grandmother's farm. My parents grew up on farms too, and although I did not, I love the down-to-earth, hard-working lifestyle of a farm family. May I have many more sessions on family farms in the future!
